Well done to our Dragon Boating team – we raised £635. Unfortunately we were beaten by a dragon’s whisker (0.5 of a second) this year, but we were definitely the loudest team on the tow path!

Once again, 1^st Barnham have decided to take part in Jamboree on the Trail (JOTT). Jamboree On The Trail is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Leaders) and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can.This year, we have decide to walk in the Arundel Park area. Beavers will do a shorter route and will aim to meet up with the Cubs and Scouts for lunch.

10 am – Cubs and Scouts to meet in Mill Road Car Park, Arundel (by Arundel Museum), returning at approximately 2pm. The route is approximately 6.5 miles.

11 am – Beavers to meet in Mill Road Car park, Arundel (by Arundel Museum), returning at approximately 2pm. The route is approximately 4 miles.

Any Beaver wishing to walk the longer route is welcome to do so if accompanied by their parent.

Parents and siblings are welcome to join us on our JOTT, either route, any non-members must attend with a parent.

 If your child has also been invited to attend the Bronze and Silver Awards ceremony in Arundel on this day, you will hopefully be able to attend both events! If you are going to do this, please let me know so we can check the timings. Parents will need to accompany their child from the hike to the ceremony!

Everyone will need to bring their own packed lunch and drinks. All should wear suitable footwear for walking and be dressed appropriately for the weather conditions.

Non uniform but please can children wear their green Barnham polo shirt and scarf.

Only in extremely bad weather will the JOTT be cancelled. Hence knowing who is planning to attend being helpful!

All members that participate will receive a JOTT 2015 blanket badge (not to be worn on uniform) and will have completed one Hike Away to be added to their tally!

This is one of only two occasions each year at which the presence of all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts is required. If you really cannot attend for very good reasons, please ensure that you tell your section leader beforehand.
We will meet in Mill Road, Arundel outside the car park and opposite the castle entrance at 2.00 p.m. on Sunday April 26th. The parade will then assemble inside the castle grounds, walk to the Cathedral, where we will have our Renewal of promise service, and walk back to the Mill Road castle entrance. Your sons and daughters will be back and ready for collection at approximately 4 p.m.
Please ensure that all Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are in full clean and neat uniforms and are, if possible, wearing black leather shoes.
If the weather is cold but dry, please wear additional clothing under uniform; we will not wear coats unless it is actually raining. If it is wet, bring a waterproof coat.
The St George’s Day parade is, perhaps, the most important formal event in the Scouting calendar. Please do your very best to ensure that all members of the Group are present and in smart and complete uniform.
